ColourPop Shows Best Friends Some “Puppy Love”
We reached out to our friends at NKLA to write a few words about what the “Puppy Love” collab means to them.
At Best Friends Animal Society, we like puppies. We actually like them a lot. And, really, who doesn’t?
We love them so much that the focus of our work is to end the killing of dogs and cats in shelters. We know that no animal has to be killed in a shelter simply because he or she doesn’t have a home.
How do we know that? Because of our lifesavingwork around the country. Across the nation, we have implemented simple, yet incredibly effective strategies for decreasing the number of animals entering shelters and increasing the number of adoptions. Fewer animals going into shelters and more animals leaving shelters alive means more lives saved. And we won’t stop until we Save Them All®.
Of course, we aren’t taking on this massive task alone. Each and every day, more than 9,000 animals are killed in America’s shelters. We’ve made great strides toward ending that killing, but there is a lot of work to be done. It’s going to take all of us, and we’re thrilled to have the support of ColourPop as a partner to help us achieve our shared goal.

While Best Friends’ work spans the nation, we have some specific areas where we’re focusing our efforts — and Los Angeles, the home base for ColourPop, is one of those areas. We created the NKLA initiative to bring together passionate individuals, city shelters and an entire coalition of animal welfare organizations to end the killing of dogs and cats in shelters throughout Los Angeles by 2017.
Step by critical step, we believe that, together, we can bring the number of pets killed in Los Angeles city shelters to zero. We’re making great progress already, with a reduction in shelter killing of more than 56% since NKLA started.
